Privacy Policy

Last updated October 15, 2026

Ugly Duck Capital (“UDC”, “we”) runs uglyduckcapital.com. This policy says what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short because we collect little.

What we collect

  • Account details — if you create an account: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk; we never see or store your password.
  • What you do in your account — ticker requests and votes on The Pond, and, for paid accounts, the watchlists, positions, model assumptions and preferences (such as light or dark theme) you save.
  • Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, timestamps) kept for security and troubleshooting.

You can read The Pond without an account; anonymous visitors only leave the technical data above.

How we use it

  • To run your account and the features you use.
  • To keep the site secure and working.
  • To show the weekly ticker-request leaderboard (symbols and vote counts only — never who requested what).

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers below.

Service providers

Clerk (sign-in), Vercel (web hosting), DigitalOcean (application servers), Neon (database) and Upstash (job queue) process data on our behalf to run the site. Google processes your sign-in if you choose “Continue with Google”.

Cookies

We use the cookies needed to keep you signed in, and remember your light/dark theme choice in your browser. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Your choices

You can update your account details in your profile, or ask us to delete your account and the data tied to it by emailing jtsparks080@gmail.com. Public calls on The Pond are UDC's own records and are not personal data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Material changes will be noted on the site.
